What is “Lowbrow” art? It generally refers to underground, comic, tattoo, or “street” art. We are in the midst of this relatively new art period, and most critics haven’t yet accepted “Lowbrow” as a legitimate art movement. Many collectors understand the irony of “art that thumbs its nose at fine art” itself becoming fine art, and want the framing to reflect that sentiment.
